Designing for Higher Education

When I first began working with the University of Utah School of Medicine, I was struck by the weight of the materials I'd be designing. These weren't just brochures — they were the first tangible touchpoint for future physicians.

The challenge was balancing institutional credibility with genuine warmth. Applicants receiving an acceptance letter are experiencing one of the most significant moments of their lives. The design needed to honor that.

I focused on clean typography, considered spacing, and a restrained color palette that felt both professional and welcoming. Every detail — from paper stock to margin width — was intentional.

The result was a cohesive system that carried candidates from their first interview invitation through orientation day, with each piece feeling like part of a larger, thoughtful whole.
